As a result, The Walking Dead's Mid-Season Eight premiere has been extended to run for 82 minutes. While The Walking Dead fans have largely shown their displeasure with the AMC show's choice to suddenly take Carl out, director of the Mid-Season Eight premiere and executive producer Greg Nicotero believes audiences will come around when the new episode airs. “It’s a beautiful episode and the people that clearly are upset about losing Carl and questioning where the show goes without Carl — I really do believe that a lot of people will put those feelings aside when they watch this episode because they’re really going to get an opportunity to make some peace with it," Nicotero told EW. “I mean, that’s what I think. I don’t know, I could be completely wrong.” Rick actor Andrew Lincoln previewed the upcoming run of episodes while speaking to ComicBook.com, ominously promising a dark road ahead. "All of the back eight is this terrible death," Lincoln concludes. "This emotion is unending throughout the whole cast and, I think, it's palpable. The cost of this battle is much more full because of what happened." At this point, Rick has nearly lost everything. "He has his extended family," Lincoln said. "He's not Judith's father but he's her dad. And, of course, Michonne. They're in love. But this is... Chandler Riggs' character was fatally bitten in season 8A, with the bite revealed in the midseason finale. It would create instant fear in people who didn't watch the series and just stick to the walking dead and if you did watch Fear then it's their greatest tipping point to the evil side. via IFTTT The Walking Dead Season 9 - Scott Gimple Replaced as Showrunner! It's no secret that The Walking Dead is one of the most popular shows on television. The long running apocalyptic drama consistently brings in massive numbers for AMC, and its spinoff Fear The Walking Dead has helped cement the property's importance on the network. Everyone involved doesn't seem to think the series will be ending in the foreseeable future, so it should come as no surprise that AMC renewed The Walking Dead for Season 9. While this news isn't exactly shocking, there will be a major mixup behind the scenes, as Scott M. Gimple will no longer serve as the showrunner. Scott M. Gimple is hardly being fired by The Walking Dead-- quite the opposite. Instead, he's been promoted to chief content officer of the franchise as a whole. This is a massive new job, as it will include both series, marketing, merchandise, video games, and so on. According to THR, Gimple is being replaced by Angela Kang for Season 9, who will take over a showrunner. Kang has been involved with TWD since 2011, as both a writer and executive producer. http://ift.tt/2FyScPP This mixup shows just how far reaching The Walking Dead has become as a brand. Rather than simply crafting a series of new episodes, there is a multitude of other decisions to be made about the franchise, which will become Scott M. Gimple's primary responsibility. As such, he'll likely be less involved in the writing and narrative of the flagship series. The Walking Dead's latest renewal and shift of administration proves that the show isn't going anywhere. AMC's CEO recently confirmed this, claiming TWD could go indefinitely. Both the flagship series and Fear The Walking Dead have been working hard to drum up audience excitement this late into the game. A crossover event between the two shows is finally happening, something that was deemed all but impossible when Fear first started on the air. They're no doubt hoping big twists like that will help keep the OG fans invested, who have already been watching all the zombie goodness for eight years. Of course, The Walking Dead has seen a dip in viewership in the past two seasons. While this is partly due to the bevy of fantastic programming available nowadays, the show's issues with pacing can also be cited as a common gripe. Capsule episodes infuriated the fans in Season 7, and this year's All Out War against Negan was surprisingly dull. Yet droves of fans still tune in every Sunday, preparing to have their hearts ripped out with another shocking character death. We are supposed to be worried about what comes next, and anticipating what comes next, and stressing about what comes next. That just shows that you’re engaged and you’re interested. Our job is to now pay that off and fulfill that interest, and prove that this was a decision worth making. That’s what we’ve got to do.” Even still, fans are worried about Carl’s death affecting future comic storylines in the show (in the comics Carl is still alive and instrumental major storylines like The Whisperer War). “There are big, huge stories coming up that you might think will be massively altered because of the absence of Carl,” Kirkman told EW. “But we have known these story lines have been coming for years. There are plans in place to make it all work. The loss of Carl doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re going to be losing big swaths of the comic book story. It means that there will be some differences to them. The goal is that those differences will be as exciting to the audience as they are to me.” In the 2nd picture it looks like the tip of his stick is sharpened back into a spear, pretty much confirms its after season 8. In this one I will be giving my thoughts on Norman Reedus' recent comments about The Walking Dead and needing to be careful about how they handle old school survivors. http://ift.tt/2muqPyr Norman Reedus doesn't sound thrilled about Chandler Riggs' departure from The Walking Dead and now finds himself asking, "Who's left?" The actor who has played Daryl Dixon on the AMC zombie drama since its first season opened up about Riggs' sudden exit while chatting with EW. "The people that started this show, to me, are the heart of the show," Reedus said. "When you lose those key members, it's such a big blow to the show, and to the fans, and to us that are there. Who's left? There's only a few of us left out of all those people. If you wanted to turn it into a totally different show, you get rid of those people. But if you want to hold on to what made the show special, you've got to be very careful what you do with those people." Reedus, one of what will soon be only four Season One cast members remaining, sounds as though he wants to keep the show recognizable for its original fans. He, Melissa McBride, Andrew Lincoln, and Lennie James will be the only remaing original cast members remaining a part of the series beyond Riggs' final episode of February 25, 2018, with James already set to depart for the sibling series after Season Eight. Such changes have left other cast members feeling a bit uneasy, as well. "There's only me left in the top 10 [of the call sheet]," Rick actor Andrew Lincoln said in an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com. "Norman and Melissa and Danai and LC, they're all in the twenties...This job is, as I said before, glorious and unique. I wouldn't trade it for the world. The stinger is the fact that I seem to be the guy left on the pier waving people away. That's powerful." "This was the hardest... Losing Steven was... the thought of the journey without Steven in the cast was unbearable but this is... I didn't see it coming," Lincoln said. "Scott called me up and said, 'You're gonna hate this one. I want to just forewarn you.' Even then, I was waiting to say, 'This is a really cool way of telling me that I'm off the show, you know that?' That's what I thought he was about to say. He said, 'It's the kid.' I couldn't even say, 'No.' I was silent for a minute. He said, twice, 'Are you still there?' I just didn't see it coming." In this one I will be giving my thoughts on our first look at Morgan Jones crossing over into Fear The Walking Dead Season 4. http://ift.tt/2DipBh4 Lennie James’ long, winding Walking Dead journey has reached a new destination as his character of Morgan will be leaving the original show at the end of season 8 and then moving over to companion series Fear the Walking Dead. And we’ve got the exclusive first photos of the big crossover right here. (See both images below). Of particular note is that Morgan can be seen carrying his trusty fighting stick in both images, assuring fans that it remains his weapon of choice for taking on foes dead and undead. And what does Morgan’s introduction to Fear mean for both the character and the show, which is now filming season 4? Andrew Chambliss, who, along with Ian Goldberg, has taken over showrunning duties from Dave Erickson (with TWDshowrunner Scott M. Gimple overseeing) told EW about the process of crossing over the character. As Morgan Jones steps into the world of FTWD, he’ll be continuing the journey he began on The Walking Dead way back in the pilot,” says Chambliss. “Ian and I were huge fans of the character when Lennie James first brought him to life back then, again when he returned in season 3, and finally when he became a series regular in season 6.” Chambliss also spoke about how their initial meetings with James helped guide the path for the character as he jumps from one show to the other. “When we first met Lennie, he impressed upon us how much he cared about the character and how important it was to him for us to take Morgan to places we hadn’t seen before. It’s been a great challenge to set for ourselves, and it’s what we hope to do with the character — to push Morgan to places he could only get by coming into contact with the characters on Fear. In today's episode we will be doing a retrospective type of video where we recap Carl Grimes time in the walking dead tv series. No doubt Carl is one of the absolute biggest characters in the walking dead. I would say if I had to list it in order of overall importance based on the comic book series he is probably number 2 with the only character being more important his father, Rick Grimes. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Chandler Riggs portray Carl grimes in the series. He never quite got to be as bad A as he was in the comic book series but none the less I still really enjoyed seeing his journey throughout the show. I wanted to share my thoughts on it in particular with you guys today. via IFTTT 'Fear The Walking Dead' Bringing In The New World Order Already? http://ift.tt/2m6VzWb The New World Order story might be coming to The Walking Dead earlier and differently than anyone could have imagined: in Fear the Walking DeadSeason Four. The first issue of the six issue New World Order arc in The Walking Deadcomics hit shelves on Wednesday. Among several major reveals with the new Commonwealth community is the fact their population of 50,000 celebrates sports leagues and concerts in a massive stadium. The stadium is so large and well kept that it is visible from outside of the Commonwealth's walls. Fear the Walking Dead is filming its fourth season in at the Dell Diamond Stadium in Austin, Texas. Does that stadium belong to the Commonwealth? The crossover may well lead to the two Walking Dead shows merging into one, ultimately bringing the survivors of Fear into The Walking Deadpermanently (or for as long as they last). Originally, the safe bet was Morgan Jones would be leading them back to Alexandria but the reveals in issue #175 have provided this new theory. All of this theory assumes the Fear the Walking Dead crossover with Morgan Jones is a future version of the Lennie James character, having survived The Walking Dead Season Eight and journeyed to the new location. What if Morgan Jones is the first to discover the Commonwealth community with his Fear the Walking Dead pals, following what would be a massive time jump for the sibling series? Prior to the Commonwealth's full introduction, theories swirled regarding the helicopter Rick saw earlier in The Walking Dead Season Eight. No group has claimed it as their own just yet, leave the door open for the Commonwealth to be scouting the area, meaning they already exist in the world of the TV series. Could The Walking Dead be the show which is actually merging into the other, though? The core series moving its setting from Alexandria or, at least, adding the Fear-introduced Commonwealth to its narrative? Of course, this would mean the cast of The Walking Dead would have to sever their Georgia roots to move filming to Austin, Texas, at least in large part, which seems highly unlikely. Furthering the theory: take a look at the new cast members added to Fear the Walking Dead for its fourth season. Jenna Elfman might be the TV version of Stephanie (or whoever the woman is on the cover of The Walking Dead issue #176) and Garret Dillahunt may be Lance Hornsby. After all, artist Charlie Adlard's efforts on Hornsby bore a striking resemblance to Negan -- a character Dillahunt was once campaigning for. While it's all speculation for now, the entire theory rides on Fear the Walking Dead Season Four taking place after The Walking Dead Season Eight. It also depends on the future of the New World Order story and how it may or may not be feasible for television. The response to the New World Order's first issue has been massively positive, giving the AMC shows more than enough reason to be eager to achieve it. The Walking Dead, however, is on course to complete the All Out War arc through the eight remaining episodes of Season Eight. They then have the Whisperer War to dive into, and a total of 50 issues to adapt before the arrival. If Fear the Walking Dead were to establish the exciting, world-building and brand new refreshing story ahead of The Walking Dead, fans of the TV series would share the same buzzing attitude as an unexpected, unpredictable, and mysterious future expands the zombie apocalypse's world. If Chandler Riggs had 3 more years on his contract that means the show probably has 3 more seasons planned before they end it.
